Sunday Late Night Reads - 11/24/13 - US and Iran Nuclear - Sanctions Deal - Republicans Stay Away!

So over the last several months I have been concentrating on my blogs Me, Myself, Music and Mysteries and FreeWheelin' Music Safari and not paying that much attention to the world and the world of US politics. Really with the way that the Republicans have behaved over the last five years since President Obama's victory I have been really discussed with American Politics.   But today I said let see if I can get back into it and wow what do I read but that the US has reached a historic agreement with Iran on rolling  back their nuclear program! But then I see that the Republicans want to throw a monkey wrench into the whole agreement. From Think Progress:

From Think Progress: Republicans May Derail Historic Iran Deal In Push For More Sanctions
Top Republican lawmakers suggested on Sunday that Congress should move to impose new sanctions on Iran despite the historic agreement reached in Geneva between the U.S., its international partners and the Islamic Republic over Iran’s nuclear program.
According to the White House, in exchange for a freeze and roll back of Iran’s program, the P5+1 — the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Russia, China and Germany — have agreed to release a modest amount of sanctions. As part of the deal, the P5+1 has committed to “[n]ot impose new nuclear-related sanctions for six months, if Iran abides by its commitments under this deal, to the extent permissible within their political systems.” Read More

It seems to me that I have highlighted the key portion of the above paragraph!1 Remember how hard it was last year to get the world to come to an agreement on the Syrian Crisis and here the key world powers have reached an agreement with Iran. I think that if we pull out of this deal and demand increased sanctions once again America is thumbing their nose at the rest of the world  and I for one am sick and tired of the holier than thou attitude that we have in our country!!  Is our country great yes - but we will only remain great if we live up to the ideals that made us great!!

From Think Progress: Poll: Large Majority Of Americans Support Nuclear Deal With Iran
A new Washington Post/ABC News poll released on Wednesday found that a large majority of Americans would support an agreement between the United States, its international partners and Iran that would allow some easing of sanctions on the Islamic Republic in exchange for curbs on its nuclear program.
When asked, “would you support or oppose an agreement in which the United States and other countries would lift some of their economic sanctions against Iran, in exchange for Iran restricting its nuclear program in a way that makes it harder for it to produce nuclear weapons,” 64 percent of respondents said they would support such an agreement while just 30 percent opposed. The same poll also found that Americans are skeptical whether a first step agreement will ultimately prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
Negotiations are set to resume on Wednesday in Geneva where the six world powers — the U.S., U.K., France, China, Russia and Germany — and Iran will try to work out the contours of a first step agreement on Iran’s nuclear program. The two sides were close to a deal earlier this month and agreed to meet again this week to iron out key differences Continue Reading
Ok so here we go again when we combine the two stories since 2008 the Republicans have a,) acted like they won the election and b) done everything in their power to thwart everything that the President has proposed! I saw get over it! You lost the majority of the people elected the President and want him to do the things that he said he wants to do! So as the losing party you try to get the best deal possible but still you realize that YOU aren't the ones how get EVERYTHING THAT THEY WANT if most of the people in the US wanted it that way they would have ELECTED YOU!! So stop it - support the President go agree with the world - fight to get the est deal you can but understand that doing the exact opposite of what the rest of the world and the majority of people in the US want is not in the best interest of the US. The Republican/ Tea Party maybe but not the US!! Off of your soapbox, Edward!! Night /all!!
