For the last few years, I've had a blog called Me, Myself, Music and Mysteries and on that blog I blog about the music that I listen to and the books I read. Over those years I've also blogged about politics. My politcs are left of center and at times I think that I may be offending readers who come to the site to find out about the music and the books. So I thought about breaking off and starting a new blog that's focus was more politics and history. This is the first post on this new site that first was a Wordpress site:
For years now I've tried to put my life together, trying to combine all the things I've done over the last 62 years. The other day as I was listing things I've done and been i.e a political science and education major with degrees in both, and 3o plus years as an environmental consultant. I thought let's go back to my education degree which is social science education. Hum, what does that encompass? I searched for the aspects or elements of social studies. The five aspects of social studies include:
History
Geography
Social Culture
Economy
Politics
Ok so I do love history and as I've increased my non-fiction reading over the last few months - I find I want to increase it even more!
Geography -this includes looking at the world geo-spatially which I do all the time at work as I create GIS maps for Environmental reports! It can also include analysis of Eco-systems,hum,I delineate wetlands! And have studied threatened and endangered species of New Jersey!
So let's move on social culture would include my books and music, religion and just about everything else!
The economy as readers of my blog know I want to - "tax the rich"! Finally politics, which goes back to my political science major!
So social studies allows me to write about ALL the things I love! So on this site, I want to blog about all of the above to varying degrees. I will continue with Me, Myself,Music and Mysteries and cross post where appropriate! When I transfer the blog all of the past posts came with it - while many of the posts refer to today in history the articles are still, I hope, interesting!
